Our company combines innovation and science to bring practical products to the animal health field that will enhance the health, productivity and welfare of pets and production animals. Our new product, FerAppease the only Maternal Bovine Appeasing Substance (MBAS) on the market. MBAS is assimilated by the vomeronasal gland in the nose, and it desensitizes the amygdala and the hypothalamus dramatically decreasing threat perception, fear, stress, and its negative consequences.  Stress is known to induce drastic changes in the way animals utilize nutrients. For example, the stress hormone epinephrin is known to increase gastrointestinal movement which causes nutrients to exit the body before they are fully digested. A second stress hormone, cortisol, is known to induce insulin resistance and catabolism, meaning that fat and muscle tissues are breaking down to provide energy to the stressed body. Stressed animals are in survival mode, where the priority is to provide resources to the body for flight or to fight an eminent treat, and this metabolic status is very energy inefficient. Exposure to (MBAS) leads to an immediate down regulation of the stress pathways (Hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis) decreasing the release of adrenaline and cortisol. This eventually shifts the animals’ metabolism from a survival mode back to growth mode. Scientific trials have proven that MBAS-treated animals had significantly higher average daily weight gains and were more feed-efficient with lower morbidities and mortalities compared to untreated animals.
