Central Plains Dairy Expo Prayer Breakfast: A ‘staple’ for the body and soul

Sioux Falls, SD (February 10, 2026) – Feed your body and soul by attending the Central Plains Dairy Expo (CPDE) Prayer Breakfast – featuring Coach Joe Kennedy, who is known for his unwavering commitment to faith. Before coaching his first game, Kennedy made a promise to God that he would offer a prayer of gratitude at the conclusion of each game – giving thanks for the effort of his players and the opportunity to impact young lives through football.

All registered CPDE attendees are welcome to attend the free Prayer Breakfast on March 18, at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. To register for CPDE, go to: https://www.centralplainsdairy.com. This event begins with doors opening and breakfast service at 6:30 a.m., followed by the program at 7 a.m.

An 18-year U.S. Marine veteran and former assistant football coach at Bremerton High School in Washington, Coach Kennedy’s simple act of faith sparked years of opposition from his school district and led to a lengthy legal journey that tested his resolve. On June 27, 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in his favor, affirming his First Amendment rights. On March 8, 2023, Kennedy was officially reinstated as an assistant coach – a moment he describes as both humbling and faith affirming.

Today, Kennedy continues to share his story across the country, encouraging believers to remain faithful, even in the face of adversity. His message resonates with audiences seeking hope, courage and the reminder that standing firm in one’s beliefs can lead to lasting impact. A film inspired by Kennedy’s life and testimony was released in 2024.

Coach Kennedy and his wife, Denise, are parents to four children and currently reside in Pensacola, Fla. Together, they remain committed to sharing a message rooted in faith, gratitude and perseverance.

The Prayer Breakfast is co-sponsored by CPDE and Western Iowa Dairy Alliance, and proudly supports The Banquet in Sioux Falls by providing dairy products for the meals they serve.

“This event serves as a reminder that faith plays a vital role in both personal and professional life – offering encouragement, unity and purpose,” stated CPDE Member Services Director Renee Brod. “For many, it is a meaningful way to begin the day and Central Plains Dairy Expo – with hearts grounded in gratitude and hope. All are invited to start the day with this faith-filled experience.”
